Elderberry Use as Medicine

The Elderberry Plant

The Elderberry Plant is a powerful medicine with so many uses.

The Elderberry plant has been in use by humans since at least 1500 BC. Hippocrates implemented it in his medicinal uses; even using a wine made from the inedible roots to topically treat snake bites. Wide cultivation of the plant began during the Middle Ages in Europe.

The Blue Elderberry plant is native to many countries: including Europe, Australia, and the North West of the United States. In the USA there are two edible species, the Blue and the Red Elderberry plant.

The roots, stem, bark and leaves are all inedible due to higher concentration of Cyanide; which over time can build up in the body causing bad implications. The berries contain less amounts, which is why it is highly recommended to always cook the berries before ingesting. Furthermore, so very few Elderberry plant species are edible, it is best to be safe when you first begin learning and implementing this plant; and to buy Elderberries from a store or Herbal Apothecary. When Wildcrafting, learn what you're looking for and do not eat them without double checking.

The many medicinal benefits of the Elderberry include:

Immunune system support.

Protects against bacteria & infection.

Slows the spread of cancer.

Helps prevent diabetes.

Slows down the process of autoimmune diseases such as AIDS, symptoms & associated pain.

 Aids in weight loss.

Provides Cardiovascular support by reducing bad cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, & relaxes tension of blood vessels & arteries.

Helps relieve allergies; and Edlerberry juice contains bioflavanoids that soothes irritation & inflammation associated with Bronchitis AND asthma. Also works as an expectorant.

The bioflavanoids combined with the Vitamin A the Elderberry plant contains promotes skin health; decreasing dark spots and aiding in overall healthy skin.

Helps to promote bone strength & the development of new bone tissue; delaying the onset of Osteoperosis.

Helps to eliminate constipation, reduces gas, and increases gastrointestinal health.

Contains iron, potassium, phosphorous, copper, Vitamins A B & C, proteins, & dietary fiber.

With all the new superfoods being discovered today, it's very surprising that the Elderberry Plant has been overlooked... but not by us!

Blessings
